Hi Stampers

I offered a new friend to create the wedding invites for her upcoming wedding in February this year. I made several designs and one was chosen. Made a couple of changes as requested and then set to and created 45 invites. Here is what they looked like.

In my haste to get them finished I don’t think that I took pictures inside them. I’ll have to have a look.

I went to a wedding with a friend, it was one of my old stamp club members, Anne. What a fabulous wedding and we did get lucky and get a break in the weather. Here is the card that I made for them. The wedding was a couple of months ago and I think I may have copied or CASED this card. So a big thanks to the original creator of this lovely card.

Stamp Club Challenge for December

Hi Stampers

This year we tried something a little different and made Secret Santa gifts, it was so secret that nobody knew who they were making their gift for. It worked out really well and here are the creations. I will show you the second nights projects next.

This was Wendy’s gift – Wendy was in the middle of shifting house and her DH packed away her stamping things – how dare he when he was to specifically told to leave it ……… perhaps he didn’t hear her. The thought was there and that is all that anyone could wish for.

A mixed bag of cards

Back again. Today I have a couple of cards for you. So these cards were made way back in September.

This first card was for the local Pastor at the Northpoint Church. The arrival of their third child was a beautiful little boy ‘Rhys’.

This card was for someone special in fact I made a couple of these – I’m liking the Lucky Limeade cardstock.

Hostess Gift

Hi Stampers

This is a hostess gift and door prize that I did for a workshop back in October.

This was a bag that was made with Poppy Parade, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi.

These were the little cards inside the bag, the labels were to attach to a card and as my hostess is a ‘stamper’ then she was able to change then with the words that she preferred.

The middle card is white on white and really doesn’t really show up well in these pictures.

This box with chocolates went as the door prize

The stamped white strip on the bag was stamped using the ‘Creative Elements’ stamp set on page 89 of the ‘idea book & catalogue’ from Stampin’ Up. If you don’t have your own copy then contact me and I can arrange for you to have your own copy – it makes great bedtime reading.

Twist top box

I found this twist top box a few months back and it has very quickly become a favourite to make – it is fast and easy and most of all fun.

I have done a heap more as well but sorry no photos to show. I know I did it in black and made it taller which then fit a whole box of Cadbury Favourite Chocolates, yum. Never mind I will post it should I find it.

A Christmas Gift

The local playgroup were running their annual Christmas raffle early this year. This is the gift I made and donated to the raffle.

So this little bag was made with the idea that a gift could be placed in here but it also doubled as the holder for the 10 coordinating Christmas cards and envelopes.

Catch up cards

I have a busy month planned ahead so I thought I would take a minute or two and do a blog post. I done a few projects over the last few months but never seem to get round to posting. Anyway here are a few….

These were for brothers whom had there party together, both boys played rugby and cricket so the best of both worlds are combined here.

My now 9 year son designed his birthday invites this year, based on the All Blacks everything was black and white

This tri fold card and twist top box were thrown together for a friend of the boys. We travelled to Toko for this celebration and had the best day.

This side step card was for a boys 7 year old party. Very cool the way this card design has grown.

Fathers Day Cards

Fathers day was last weekend and these were the cards that I made for the Dads

This first one was for my hubby from the kids – this is the type of tool chest he uses when working on his race car.

This tool box was for my dad – even after all these years I still think of him as a builder come handyman – now he is more of the office type. This next one here was for my FIL who has the odd classic car – this was the very first time I got to use this set before it retired.

And for the golfer in the family this one went to my step dad

I think all of these were inspired from cards I saw on Splitcoast stampers – I think. I had been searching for a link for the tool box cards on an earlier post here and found all these designs as well.

This week SQSC challenge is up and this afternoon I had a quick play. Maybe the problem is that I try and make the sketch like a 10 minute challenge when really I’m the type of person that needs to make it a really good play, longer than 10 minutes. Anyway this is what I have come up with today……

This is the second week for the ‘Stampin Queen’s Sketch Challenge’. This week’s sketch has lots of parts and I’m feeling that I may not have capture the sketch right. This first card here is my second attempt .

This is very busy and as a lot to look at. I think that I will go back and crystal effect my flowers.

Lets take a look at the ‘sketch’

Very Cute ah. This next card was my creation last night, I had started the card thinking Christmas but this the finished card – nothing like Christmas.

Lots of shimmer on this card.

First card

Stamps: Circle circus, wedding sweet

Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: Basic Jewel Rhinestones, Old Olive ribbon, Pinking Hearts Border punch, Dimensionals, Jumbo Brads 8mm, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Scallop Circle 6cm punch, sponge

The butterfly was ‘rock’n’rolled’ before being cut out and mounted on a dimensional. The Whisper White was hand torn and then the edges sponged.

Stamps: En Français, Delicate Doilies, Curly Cute

Ink: Old Olive,Cherry Cobbler,

Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Old Olive

Accessories: Basic Jewel Rhinestones, Old Olive ribbon, Bird Builder punch, Dimensionals, Jumbo Brads 8mm, Mat Pack, Extra large Tag punch, Large Tag punch, Shimmer Paint – Champagne Mist

The Whisper White background was hand torn and then the edges sponged. The doily was cut out by hand, the bird is mounted on a dimensional.

Chocolate Holder

I’ve been playing with an idea not quite sure what I thought it would look like finished but this is the first draft.

Now when you open the card there is a pocket for the chocolate and a gift card

These two were for Connor and Corbin. So the design of it is not there yet but I will keep playing when time allows.

Convention Swaps

Back in May the Stampin’ Up Convention was held in Melbourne, Australia. I was very blessed to be able to go and these were the swaps that I took along.

This was everything that I did and my room mates got all of this in the bag that is at the top of this photo.

This little box had a couple of chocolate squares in it.

This next project was a case from Becky Roberts blog using the scalloped envelope die.

This next one was a card front swap

This next one was a little house that opens up, sorry no photo of it open

This last one is a plain brown paper lunch bag that I wheeled

So there you have it all the goodies that I took away with me. It was the best time and worth the trip over. I totally recommend going to a Stampin’ Up! convention, want to join in the fun? Find out here

More random cards

Here are a couple of more cards that I found, This first one was my Mother’s day card (oops Mother’s day is May – goes to show that I need to blog much more regularly)

I have used the ‘Inspired by Nature’ stamp set here, coloured using markers but what you can’t see is that I have clear embossed over the top using clear embossing powder and the En Français background stamp. If you look at the top picture you may see it, my clear embossing powder has become contaminated with other products like ‘heat and Stick’ and other coloured embossing powders so clear is not so clear as multi.

This this next project was for Paige’s birthday back in May, this box held some yummy Rocky Road, money and a gift card fro Smiggles (a very popular Stationary shop)

I think that this idea was called a drop box, fun to make and here the DSP ‘Celebrations’ was ideal for this card idea.

This last card was for my little brother turning ‘31’ not so little now I guess. Here I hung the Jumbo Eyelet from the ribbon and just had it hanging there. Pacific Point and Basic Black cardstock, Newsprint DSP and Whisper White craft ink coloured over with the blue Watercolour pencils that Stampin’ Up have on page 142.

Strength & Hope

This Strength & Hope set from Stampin’ Up! has become a bit of a favourite and paired up with the Getting Started Collection (pg 117) makes a great base for card making. Here is a few of the cards I created for a workshop earlier this month.

Rich Razzelberry is always a favourite and paired with the Pretty in Pink always comes out a favourite.

Night of Navy with the Certainly Celery and Daffodil Delight, the blue butterfly is cut out and mounted using a dimensional

Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso using markers, Certainly Celery and Real Red, markers and masking, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White and Basic Black ink using the Rock’n’Roll technique, Old Olive, Marina Mist and Real Red using DTP (direct to paper using the ink spot) Marina Mist, Rich Razzelberry and Certainly Celery, Real Red and Whisper White using the masking technique Early Espresso with Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight and Certainly Celery using masking and sponging

It’s a cupcake Day

Hi Stampers

It was my neighbours daughters birthday a week or so back and I made her this ‘cupcake’ set. I reckon this is so cute.

So here is what the set is made up of, this cute little cupcake box inside and out.

Of course inside is filled with homemade Rocky Road, yum

This box is like a oversized milk carton which I CASED from an Easter box that I was gifted at Easter filled with chocolate eggs

The gift inside is a ‘Smiggles’ stacker tin which held the gift of money. Yay for money

Last up is the card outside and inside

The little flowers are made from the scallop punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and a Pink Pirouette circle made with the crop-a-dile then covered with Crystal effects, these were left to dry overnight and then I adhered then using the Tombow multipurpose glue.

On the milk carton I used the Simple Birthday Thanks and on the card the ‘Create a Cupcake’ stamp set and the punch. The crimper was used as well.

Sail Away Birthday Card

Sail Away is a stamp from Stampin’ Up’s ‘a la carte’ range of single stamps that is at the back of the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue which is due to finish up at the end of this month.

This is a card that I made back in March.

I had a play with the Pearls that are page 140 of the Catalogue and coloured it in using the Marina Mist marker

Gosh this rain seems never ending, the ground below my feet is so sodden and the new playground has created so much mud that I’m over it, mud and rain. Oh a brighter note the stamp club ladies did a fabulous job with the latest challenge which was ‘to make a paper craft project inspired by your favourite chocolate bar wrapper’. Birthday Cards

I may have struggled getting back into things after convention but these to cards I made for parties that the boys went along to.

This first card was for a friend of Mason’s. You may be able to make out the clouds that are sponged in the background. Always handy to these treat cups around and this cards has the trap door so that the lollies can be got to without tearing the card apart.

This next card was made for Blair, punch art, not sure that I’m a big fan of it as my cards never look as good as so many of the others that you see round.

Did you guess it was a race car, well done if you did lol. I made this Lightening McQueen car as well. I filled the box with Rocky Road for the birthday boy.

This very clever design is a tutorial by the very clever and talented Lynn Pratt. This project took so much longer than I first thought but I can’t complain with the end result.

I was lucky enough this year to attend the Stampin’ Up convention in Melbourne this year and really had a blast. Being back is great however I have really struggled with getting back into things, pretty slack on my part for sure. Easter crafts

When you don’t own an Easter stamp set what is one to do? Look towards another set and make do. I don’t normally do the Easter card thing but every year mum really makes the effort to send a card (no she doesn't make her ones, they are very fancy store brought ones) so this year I put in the effort and made a handful of Easter cards. I have refrained so far from purchasing an Easter set as I’m not sure how much it would get used. Anyway this is what I came up with for this year.

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Love Letter DSP

Stamp Set: Well Scripted, Thoughts and Prayers

Accessories: Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon, markers, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Distressing tool, Decorative label punch

These little projects here were the kids projects that they made for their teachers. Once again I don’t normally do this however this year Mason’s teacher had a birthday 2 days before the end of school and he asked why I didn’t make something……sorry I didn’t know it was her birthday! So the said that we would make an Easter gift instead. Then the other to wanted to do one as well. This is what we got……

One the Easter gifts were done I managed to quickly put this one together as the very late birthday gift. A Lauren Meader template.

With a very simple card which also happened to be the thank you card for this month. Mason gave this gift of the last day of school, not my best effort but it looks alright in these pictures. Honestly I put this project together in around 1/2 an hour as that was all the time I had.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to you all. Just wanted to show you these cute gifts that I made for Easter this year for the littlies.

These bags were bunny poop and each one had a different poem on the back.

I did these treasure bottles filled with chocolate Easter goodies, it was such a laugh watching the kids try and work out how to get the goodies out. Once one works it out then the fun is over.

I was going to decorate these up more but I just ran out of time and after making about 12 of these and the bunny poop I was a little over it.

There were pink and blue of these bottles as well. And just like that Easter was over with and now I have a heap of Chocolate to get rid of. I will probably make a chocolate brownie with it in the next couple of days.

A new stamp

I am loving this new mini catalogue and this motorbike stamp was a stamp that I was never going to pass up. This was my first card using this stamp

The technique used as the background was the ‘shaving cream technique and then I scored lines evenly apart.

The punch is new to and the words fitted perfectly.

The thank you cards for last months Stamp club were created using the new ‘Eat Chocolate’ set which I think will be a very popular set, a must have in your stamp cupboard.

So there you have it, a couple of samples using the new toys in the new Autumn/Winter mini catalogue from Stampin’ Up.

My girlfriends daughter turned ‘9’ this month, oh gosh where did that time go. So yay for me I get to do something girlie for a change So I started with pink cause that is this girls favourite colour………

This is the card, outside of course and this is

the inside of course and then onto the money holder

and then this very cute box that held the homemade Rocky Road, yum, this is always a favourite

and all three together

but wait there’s more, I brought a gift as well because we have a new shop here called Smiggles and all the kids love it so I had to buy a Smiggles gift. I needed a something to pop it into so I made a bag but in the meantime I spoke to my friend who explained that pink was no longer the right colour, we have moved onto blue '”oh no” everything I made was in pink. So what did I do – made a blue bag of course, it didn’t match the set but it was more about the thought.

So not quite the matching set that I had pictured but you know it has a little bit of everything. Here is a close up of the bag.

The pink items were made using the inlay technique. A very cool technique to play with. Punch out your shapes and layer on top of each other using ‘Tombow Adhesive’ and then run through the ‘Big Shot’ using an Embossing folder that has a tight pattern. As easy as that

Everything used in these projects was Stampin’ Up of course.

Birthday invites for a 60th

My MIL has reached a milestone in her life and her off spring wish to celebrate it country style. Wow country style, what does one do with that! Stampin’ Up didn’t really have anything to fit this theme so I had to borrow a stamp image from my neighbour and best friend and this is the invite that I went with. I had envisioned that I was going to create several to chose from but my mojo just wasn’t happening.

Okay I had to block out the details so for obvious reasons. Almost everything else is belonging to the Stampin’ Up range.

Recipe:

Cherry Cobbler cardstock, Vellum cardstock

Gold brad, Versamark, Gold embossing powder, Baroque Motifs Stamp set

other: Cord and Cowboy Stamp

I don’t know if you can make out the Baroque Motifs image that has been inked in Versamark and stamped onto the Vellum cardstock, looks nice IRL (in real life).

We are in the last couple of weeks for sale-a-bration and the current spring-summer mini catalogue. So hopefully you have everything you need from the mini and if not you only have to the 31st march to get your order in. Sale-a-bration ends on the 31st as well.

The end of a mini catalogue means that there is another on the way and that mini catalogue would be the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue. As a demonstrator we get to do a preorder so we can have a little play before the main release date. i have had a little play and here is a sneak peek just for you. There are old and new mixed together so see if you can pick out the new.

The butterflies are covered in Dazzling Diamonds and in real life these are quite stunning. The set I used is a favourite already.

Stamp Club Challenge

This year we have already had 2 stamp club months and the challenge was the same for both which was a ‘Recipe Card’ challenge. Not many participated but some did and these were their creations.

These 2 creations were made by Jo, front and back

This pink number was designed by Wendy, the recipe will be inside but she couldn’t decide what recipe to put in. We really wanted her mums tart recipe but we didn’t get it from her this time, maybe next time.

The very talented Colleen created this one, the heading/title was created with the ‘Rough Type’ stamp set.

And this one we have seen before in an earlier post. This was made for my SIL for a big birthday milestone that she had reached.

These were for Abby my niece. I made some of these last year but they were unused. I had to make some more and as some were for boys I had to come up with a blue version as well.

These ones were for Luca’s birthday a few weeks ago. The Party this way set has become a very handy set indeed. Other sets include ‘Beware Pirates’ and ‘Got treats’. The words are from ‘Sincere Salutations’.

I have made another invite but I have yet to take a photo. So I will be back with more later.

Wedding Cards from January

Sorry about the delay, I have found it really hard getting back into the swing of things again. I have been creating though and stamp club is back for another year, we have already had two months of projects. It was really good catching up with everyone after the holidays.

So getting back into it I’m showing you the stash of wedding cards that I made for my brothers wedding back at the beginning of January. It was red and white themed so I stuck with that and here’s what we got.

I love this card and I gave the happy couple the one below. These were cute and really easy to make.

Inside the card

This card above was a copy from page 2 of the IB&C. I have used different colours and words to suit my cause.

The card above was my favourite, the love the vellum look. I have stamped the vellum with the Baroque Motifs stamp and versamark.

I used the vellum here as well but it didn’t work so well here. I just couldn’t seem to get the picture in my head to transfer to the card. The was my least favourite but it was liked by a few.

So the happy couple were married on a beautiful Hawkes Bay afternoon, it was a gorgeous day.

Kids Christmas projects

Finally for the Christmas catch-up, the boys made their own Christmas cards and I did both the boys classes with a Christmas project.

Cory’s last week of homework needed him to create a New Zealand inspired Christmas card. This was a very cute card that he created and very NZ. Surfing cause it is very much Summer at Christmas, trees for the clean green image and the jandles along the bottom as that’s so what we wear at this time of year, well anytime really.

Mason created this cute Christmas card, the colours are not what I would have used but each to there own.

So these next projects are the projects that we did at School. Starting with the 5 to 6 year olds.

These little packages had 2 mini Christmas cards or tags both using Stampin’ Up Dasher and a candy cane. The packaging was a medium Cello bag with real red cardstock and a top note die topper. The kids loved it and they got to use the Big Shot.

This project was for the 7 to 8 year olds, man what a handful. but we got there in the end. most of them did look like these ones.

This last card is the card that my 3yr old created. He did the stamping himself and he sure did know what he wanted. The star was cut out with a little help from his mum.

Okay, so that is the Christmas round up. Hope you enjoyed even though we have passed the festive season. Hope your New years is going to plan. My you be stamping well.

Happy New Year

Happy New Years day to you. Just like that, we are here at the start of another year, oh to know what it has install for us. It starts here I suppose.

So these teachers gifts, 6 in total ended up like this. The School teachers were up first with these ones…

Once I made the Birdhouse, the calendar, the notebook with bookmark and the card I had to make something to put it into so the good old Genie Bag came into play.

So these ones were kept super simple and finished with a tag after using the So Swirly wheel.

The next 4 well they were amped up a bit when I saw a very cute punched Santa on Becky Roberts blog. Becky had it on a Stocking so I transferred it to my bags which turned out like this…

Cute ah, Santa’s tag shimmers a bit as I use some shimmer paint. I did roll the top and bottom with the wheel Time for a tree. Put Santa on a tag did the finishing touches. I so loved how these turned out. Best of all the Kindy teachers loved these as well and that was before they got to see inside the bags.

Christmas gifts continued

Yesterday I showed you the notebooks that I did for the teachers gift. Today I will show you a bit more. Calendars……We made these for stamp club earlier in the year but this time I used something brighter, Poppy Parade.

These are designed to sit on a desk or similar. Nice and colourful. The 1/2 pearls that Stampin’ Up brought out recently have been such a hit, easy to use as well.

I couldn’t not put in something yummy to eat so this year I went for quality rather than quantity and made these cute birdhouses from the mini milk carton die from Stampin’ Up.

The bird was covered in Dazzling Diamonds and the wings were covered with Crystal effects with a Rhinestone Brad for the eye. I used the new Woodgrain background stamp on the birdhouse and on the roof is a scalloped edge attached separately. The mini milk carton was perfect to fit in 4 Almond Rocca sticks. The most divine toffee yummy yum.

Christmas Show’s at last

Sitting here this very mild evening I have managed to download the photos from the camera that my DH has had. In fact he had MY camera right up until he received one from work as a Christmas gift. Nice for some ah. Anyway I will get off from that high horse and show you some of the things that I made for Christmas gifts. Teachers Gifts……this year there were 4 kindy teachers and 2 school teachers to keep me going.

I started with these notebooks that I found that had plastic covers so I pulled out the covering and created it my way.

Each of these were covered with DSP and decorated with a saying and also a punched imaged. The top book had a bird, in fact about 4 of the books had birds but then there where the butterflies and flowers. Lots of Dazzling Diamonds of course and then I made a ribbon bookmark for each one. The idea came from the very talented Becky Roberts who is talent plus. I spent far to much time playing so it was a mad rush to finish them. I ended up settling on three designs going with a scrunched scallop flower with a large clear button as the centre. Plain circle attached to a large clear button with a punched flower in the middle and 4 that I used the Floral Fusion Sizzlits Die, 2 with plain brads in the middle and 2 with Rhinestone Brads. A couple had little tags attached as well.

My DH has the camera so all my Christmas projects are waiting in the wings. Today I found a couple of pictures of masculine cards that I made back in October. Wow that doesn’t seem that long ago. One was a 40th card for my cousins big milestone.

Sometimes you have to remember some of the techniques that you have done in the pass to remind you how far you have come. The negative black and white split was a great one to do again, actually it had been so long since I had done it I had to find a sample to remind me.

Stampin’ Ups Lovely as a tree set is so very versatile and one that is a must have in your stash.

Christmas Cards

The kids wanted to make their own cards again this year. This time they knew what they wanted and the colours they wanted to use.

Cory was first up with this design. The black on the card was inspired by the ‘All Blacks’ , Cory is a big fan.

This is the effort of my 8 year old and he seems to be a bit of a natural. Own designs and own colour combo, he has done himself proud.

Now Mason is 6 and his colour combo is a little more out there, the design of the card he copied from one that I had here from my Christmas Card class.

Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Concord Crush is the colours of choice here. A bit different.

My 3D cards

I came across this card design in a magazine that was leant to me and I loved playing with it.

This was a larger size card than I would normally make so my square was a good size.

I brought the 20mm rings from Spotlight and the bird sits on this front side and swings freely.

The owl swings freely and is on the reverse.

I did make another of this card using the ‘Lap of luxury’, sent it of to my lovely Upline Vicki (I was in such a hurry to get it sent of to her I didn’t write in it or even take a photo. LOL. I had to email her and let her know what it was all about, just as well she is a good sort, some days I really do show my blonde roots, rrflol)

This was a stamp club project and it has a little folly bell that jingles when the 3D ornamental punched shapes move.

This one was for my mum, she loves these colours.

Last night was Stamp Club and the challenge was in and really I just had to show you these fantastic projects. The challenge set for December was ‘Christmas’ anything to do with Christmas. Drum roll please for the following projects, dah da……

This is a great Christmas cracker from Susan. We all so loved that you pulled the cracker apart and there was space for quite a large gift like a candle or a packet of something special or even a heap of sweeties, yum. So very clever Susan.

The very talented Stephanie brought along this ornament. ‘Love these’.

The ever lovely Tamara brought along this very Christmassy gift for that someone special. There are chocolates in this one so I’m sure she meant it for me…yum!

Wendy described how she had wanted to get away from the ‘Red and Green’ look of Christmas. I think that she has achieved this with the colour coordination of these cards. great aren't they

The card above is from Tania, a paper crafter for a number of years now Tania has loads of talent. That owl is cute ah!

This purple card is divine and as always Colleen always applies that little bit of extra that makes her cards that little bit special. Well done Colleen.

Sonia has really done a fantastic job. Wow where do you start. A beautifully decorated box with 3 side step cards inside to complete the boxed set. These are just divine IRL (in real life). You would definitely be a happy recipient receiving this as a gift.

The cup here is a copy from page 24 of the Idea Book and Catalogue, so incredibly easy to do using the Big Shot and Pillow box die. A few of these in all different colours hanging of the tree would look so cute don’t you think.

The drum roll was well called for don’t you think. These are really inspiring projects don’t you agree and we all loved them.

Another tri fold card

Hi there

My last post I showed you the golf card I had made. It was a card the I had cased from a picture I came across. It was fun to make so I decided to show you the other two cards I made.

The red card was well received and as red is her most favourite colour it was always going to be hard to fail. This wasn’t exactly how I pictured this card but I’m not complaining about the end result. Only thing was that I couldn't bring myself to write the message on the front of the card so I put it on the back.

The front is covered in Dazzling Diamonds and gives a very glittery effect.

This is my masculine version of the card, it to has clear embossing over top of the stamped images. I have to admit that I am really enjoying using the Extreme Elements Stampin’ Up set. There a number of sets used in this card though.

Hi Stampers

There is a golfer in the family which should make it easy when it comes to buy that all important gift. ‘NOT’ when they have it all. This time it was the standard golf card and I made the tri fold card. I love making this card so needless to say I have made many more.

The pattern is made using the retired set ‘Play Ball’ from Stampin’ Up. I stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock the golf ball in every green there was to offer and then used versamark and clear embossing powder which was heat set. I then used it accordingly.

Boys Birthday card

As I am blessed with 3 gorgeous boys I mostly make boy inspired cards. The last birthday was for an 8 year old, so this time I used this very versatile set ‘A little treat’.

I made it with a trap door on the inside of the card so the card did not have to be wrecked but I don’t have my heart set on it as boys will be boys. This card is mostly cased from the Catalogue on page 39. Don’t forget to look to the catalogue for inspiration.

Random Cards

I have a random selection of cards to show here so I will get started…

This was a folder I created to hold a very important envelope for a very dear friend of mine. This top picture is the folder before the envelope was placed inside.

Which makes this picture below the one with the envelope inserted.

I know this envelope had some good news with it and that this has now been kept as part of ones treasure box. Cool ah.

This next card I was having a play with the colouring of the flower.

The hardware is non Stampin’ Up. This flower really needed a pearl but they hadn’t arrived yet. The stamp set is ‘Every Moment"’ from the new catalogue.

This time my brother and his partner were expecting their 1st baby so more baby cards required. Ava is the most beautiful little girl ,of course I’m very biased as I’m her Aunty. Thank you cards were needed and are a great gift as well I made 3 different types, wow I loved making these.

These boxes are made to house the cards and the little dress that I brought for Ava.

Some of the colours and products used here are retired from the Stampin’ Up range now, always in need of a change don’t you think.

Baby Boy

Hi Stampers,

Cory’s teacher at school took leave at the end of term 3 to start her family. She knew that it was a boy (which makes it easy for all), Mrs Peters is also Cory’s favourite teacher ever and so talk of giving a gift was mentioned. Shown here is the gift that Cory gave to her on the last day……

I brought a lovely soft blanket and inside was a baby toy. I created this expanding box to accommodate the bulk of the gift. It worked out great but I do admit that it took awhile and as I do all my crafting at night when the boys are in bed it was a very late night with a few not very well thought out problems. LOL. Very pleased when I was finished for sure. The bottom of the box was rolled with the Classic stars roller and the colour is ‘Bashful Blue’ using the ‘Choo Choo’ set.

Train – no thanks I’ll take the next one….

Hi there,

During the school holidays I took the boys to Napier and on the way we came across this train. The boys thought this was very interesting and I was very quizzed about what may have happened. The best part was the boys made up there own stories about what had happened. All I can say is I’m really pleased I’m not living in their fantasy worlds. The boys are 8, 5 and 3.

This was in the Manawatu Gorge, I haven’t photograph it very well cause it doesn’t show that it is a 20 metre drop straight into water below and the works are taking place right on the edge of the ledge.

The slip came from way up the hills, no one was hurt thank goodness, it was carrying cargo this time.

This was a bug that the kids took some interest in.

Stamp Card Challenge

Hi Stampers,

Wow, yet another stamp club has passed us by………feels like forever since I have blogged. The projects for this months stamp club were a little time consuming if I do say so myself. It has been a busy time with holidays and all but now at the end of our second week of term it is time to catch up again.

The challenge for this months stamp club was ‘Wedding Anniversaries’. After 1 year of marriage the gift is paper, 10 years is tin, 15 years is crystal. As some of the girls in the club aren’t married the alternative challenge was to use a ‘never before inked stamp and make it the focal point of the card. Great ideas don’t you think. So this is what the girls came along with.

On Tamara’s card the 2nd layer up is tin foil attached with black Brads. Next year I’m up for our 8th Anniversary and going by the book in front of me now it is Bronze or RUBBER, he won’t be getting away with celebrating this one lightly. Now where is that wish list of mine, can’t seem to find it right now so I’ll make a new list but I may have to use a roll of loo paper for this list. Tee hee.

Scallop Envelope

Over on splitcoast they had the instructions for a T-slide card and this is my take on that.

This card was made for a male so stars were the main future here.

I used the retired sets In the Stars and Staring you. Now I will be using the new set Seeing Stars 121564 on page 88. The jumbo wheel Classic Stars 111254 on page 89 is another one that I use. Great for male cards.

This card was made my Susan, she has done an amazing job with the colouring.

Olive-Rose made these cards as she knew that her Mum was coming to stamp club. She shows great talent.

This wow card is created by Tamara, she used the Technique Lovers Challenge that is on Splitcoast. She has used Copics pens for the colouring. Who wouldn’t want to receive a card like this.

Oh by the way ‘Dad’

Hi Stampers

Another round of Stamp club finished for the month with both nights being really enjoyable. But this post is not the stamp club project, nooooo………… this is what I ended up making for my boys to give to their Dad on Fathers Day. I did mean to create them earlier but life got in the way, I spent ‘quality time’ with him, my DH and the boys dad, anyway I digress into my own little world. DH loves his sleep so never is up before he has to be so on Sunday morning I created these.

This first project I created when I designed for ‘We Stamp’. The size was made for the fundraising Chocolate that the schools sell. It did also fit the Peanut Chews from ‘The Warehouse’. So this chocolate was much bigger so I adjusted the size to fit. I kept it very simple cause my DH is a real bloke and not into anything girlie.

Have you guessed yet that he like White Chocolate, not my favourite so it is okay to have it in the house. These smaller bars wouldn’t fit and having 2 of them created this double holder by joining the 2 together, easy peasy. I love the DSP(Designer Series paper) ‘Newsprint’ that is in the new ‘Stampin’ Up’ catalogue.

Recipe Card

I have been seeing recipe cards done on some of the blogs and they look really cute. In the meantime my friend sent an invite to celebrate a milestone and she wanted our favourite recipe written on a card that she sent with a greeting on the back. Yippee just the excuse that I needed to make a recipe card.

So the projects that I did for Stamp club I didn’t do for me but I did do these 3. As you can see I am loving the new DSP Newsprint. I love it, I love it and so my Fathers day cards were made from it and I used it with the Soft Suede.

This first card is for Dad, he is a bit of a tool man, he is a builder by trade so with that in mind I cased my stamp club challenge.

This card below is for my stepdad and there is no guesses as to what he is into. Golf is what he does, Golf, Golf, Golf and since he has been into golf I now get why there are so many Golf related gifts, you can get Golf everything here. Me, no I don’t do golf but golf cards now that is something that I needed to do. Hubby said that it looked realistic enough so it must be reasonably good.

This last one is for hubby, he is a blue collar worker and although he doesn't always wear collared shirts he does now and then. Tamara made these shirts for a stamp club challenge in the first or maybe the second year when we were doing swaps, I think that she had made 8 or 10 of them to give away and then she did instructions for everyone as well, they may be long gone but I still liked the idea. Sometimes you need to go back and remind yourself of all the projects that you have done.

So are you ready? Fathers day is this weekend and I know that my stamp club ladies are well equipped ready for the day.

Here are the projects that we made for stamp club and it did work out by accident that all 3 projects were masculine focused. Here is what we did……

This cool little box that you could fill with kisses chocolates

This was a case from a swap that I got at convention from …… oops sorry just can’t put my hand on it for the details. It was very cute anyway. I did have a larger one made and filled it with kisses but I can’t find those just at the moment… oh yeah that’s right I ate them, oh gosh I will have to buy some more tee hee.

This next project I saw on somebody's blog, I saved the picture but not the site so this was my version of what I think I saw.

Very cute, they took a little bit of time but well worth the work. Change the colours and this could be usable for a number of occasions.

This last project was requested and has been done but worth showing as a good masculine card that is easy to recreate time and time again.

The layout can work either way for this card and the ladies had the option. You could put a gift card into the envelope and put the tools to the side for a different look.

Birthday card and Gift

This time I have a card and a ‘All in one box’ also known as a ‘pop up box’ maybe you know it as something else again. These boxes are easy to resize to get just the right size. I also made a couple for Masons rugby coach and made a little carrier basket for them.

These were the ones that the rugby coach received. This next one was for my husbands niece who turned 14. No guesses as to what was inside each of these boxes…………lots of different types of chocolates or course, chocolate kisses, Favourites and duets just to name a few. If you don’t know these boxes the lid pops up but is still part of the box. A very clever design.

The one thing that comes up regularly is how we struggle to create masculine cards. This months challenge was a ‘male’ card and here are what the girls came up with……

So there you have it 7 different types of cards and 2 3D projects. These cards were really great and just goes to show that if you put some thought into it you really can come up with a great masculine card.

Some ideas to remember when creating a masculine (male) card is …

Use techniques like

Sponging
Spritzing
Thump ‘n’ bump or DTP (Direct to paper with your ink pad)
Crumpling
Tearing
Crimping
Distressing

Accessories can include

Hodgepodge Hardware
Linen Thread/Hemp Twine
Jumbo eyelets/eyelets
Twill Tape
Brads & Clips

Hi Stampers

I was in need of a card for someone that had very recently lost their mum. I didn’t really know the person who received this card but I wanted them to know that I understood their circumstances. So where to start? Soft Suede was on my desk and last months stamp club card was on the table as well so that was a place to start.

I rock and rolled the branch and even did it with a twist but really the image was to small. I used the gold encore pad for the words outside and in. Now the ribbon, I didn’t want to use pumpkin pie as I thought it would be to much so I ran the Very Vanilla through the ink pad just along both edges, the effect was stunning and just the thing for the finishing touch.

These didn’t take long at all which was the best. So with that done I can move on with the list of things to do which by the way gets longer all the time, for every 1 task I cross off extras are added, that happens to me all the time………

A 6 Sided Basket

Hi Stampers

My friend pop over and was telling about a basket she had seen, she described to me and I just had to have a play. This was the basket she was talking about but this is my effort. This is a very cute little basket.

This basket is made up from 6 of the Scallop envelope Bigz Dies for the Big Shot, joined together in a row then joined to create the basket. Shape it to suit then create a bottom template to sit either inside the basket or tape to the bottom, or both. Create your handle and there you have it.

This sample is made with Ruby red cardstock and the Designer Series paper Autumn Traditions. Filigree Brads finish of the handles. This basket is large compared to a lot of the other baskets and boxes I do so at this stage I’m thinking that these maybe good teacher gifts at the end of the year.

Happy Birthday Wiper Card

For ages now I have wanted to do a ‘Wiper Card’. Finally I managed to get it done. This card was for my beautiful boy ‘Cory’ Happy 8th Birthday kiddo. This was so much fun and super super easy.

So stars are good for boys……right. Have to be as I’m all rugby out right now. Animal Crackers was the centre stamp with a little bit of blender pen and outlining going on. No dazzling diamonds or anything sparkly or pretty here not sure that it truly covers masculine even but good for a boy.

So there you have it a wiper card, hop over to ‘Splitcoaststampers’ for the instructions and create one for yourself. Have fun

I cased it

Sometimes don’t you just get a block where there is nothing creative coming through? So what do you do when you need something….turn to your catalogue of course. And that is just what I did for this card. I needed one more project for stamp club and this was it. It is a case from page 5 in the autumn-winter mini catalogue.

So I didn’t have enough of the paper clips so came up with the flower instead. It was a real hit. So next time you are stuck for an idea have a flick through the catalogue and be inspired.

Baby, baby,baby……….

The Naki is a very fertile place and nothing proves that move than the number of pregnant ladies that are here. This year seems very busy with friends and acquaintances ready to drop and not forgetting that my brother and his partner are expecting any day now as well, they live in Napier thou. In preparation for the new arrivals I made these cards which are very popular at present.

These are so cute. One of the blue ones is set ready to go as a friend had a boy in the weekend. So now it is the waiting game with the next 2 arrivals expected any day now.

Here is another Boys Birthday card, oh and this one will also double as a thank you for one of the rugby coaches. This is a retired set from Stampin’ Up, Just Rugby. Another very handy set when it comes to boys cards. These cards I have kept very simple, oh you can see the retired Hodgepodge Hardware as well. Gee typing this makes me realise how very tight I have been with some of the product. I really should do more with the new products when I get them and not so much after they retire. Easy to get stuck in your ways ah.

I have use the colour spritzer tool as well but you can’t see it in these pictures.

Boys Birthday cards

Hi Stampers,

Do you it difficult to come up with a boys or a masculine card? me too. Of all the cards to make this seems to be the one that people struggle with the most. I’m hoping that the new ‘Stampin’ Up’ catalogue helps in that area. Here are two cards that I did a couple of months back. Both of these cards are using retired ‘Stampin’ Up’ sets.

this ‘By Land’ was a very cool set for boys and this set has had quite a bit of use.

‘Ahoy Matey’ another very good set. Both these cards are shallow box cards and very cool and easy to make. Check out ‘Splitcoast’ for the instructions.

Hi Stampers,

At training this month I did a handful of swaps for fellow demonstrators who were local. As this special for this month is 2 step stamping I thought that I might stick with the theme of that.

Cute ah, the butterfly is covered in Dazzling Diamonds with the stamp sets used being the lovely Cottage Garden and Inspired by Nature. I use the current cardstock Kraft which proved very popular in the displays. Kraft will undergo a name change in the new catalogue and become Crumb Cake.

Perfect Princess

So this was a set that I said to myself ‘what use is that, what could you do with that’ I didn’t even buy it. Thank goodness for Tania, she did buy it and in most cases I have started out to copy cards, they are a case with my own touch. This set has been really good fun to play with.

I thought this card came out so cute and I made a money holder to match. I know that the birthday girl liked this set, how could she not, pink is her favourite colour. I have to thank all the ladies who have uploaded their ideas to splitcoast cause between you all you have created some really pretty items.

I still won’t buy this set mind you, I have 3 boys.

This months challenge was to create a card by using recycled items. Overall I think that this was a real challenge for the ladies perhaps they are good and don’t have a lot of scraps or mishaps. Me, well I could have made a fist load of cards as my work area you can’t see for scraps and 1/2 completed projects. DH is always looking at the mess with disgust, I tell myself it helps me create better, it is a wonder I can move at all sometimes. Anyway here is the line up…

These Marquee cards that Jan Tinklenberg created are cute as cute and fun to make of course so we did these at Stamp club last month. Very effective and great to give as a gift, really gets people talking. So I first one I made didn’t photograph so well but the others here are shown…

This one was the Stamp club design.

This is my masculine designed one, for my brother who turned 30. This last one I love as it uses the new Designer series paper from Stampin’ Up Autumn Traditions (just as well I looked that name up as I had something totally wrong) designed for my Aunty.

Pretty ah, so thank you Jan for sharing your tutorial and giving us the chance to have fun making this fun card.

Birthday Cards for the girls

I love making girls birthday cards and as I have 3 boys I don’t get the opportunity to make many. Thankfully my best friend and neighbour has 3 girls so I get to have a good play when the girls have their days.

So the top one here I have used the Designer Series Paper Tea Party, I love this layout.

Now this one is a bit different and made to suit. This little girl wants to be a builder, she does ballet, plays soccer and wants to be a builder. So starting with the card I came up with this and then ……

yep the matching tool box all decked out with flowers and all. I made up this box as I went cause I was short of time and didn’t want to waste time surfing the net for patterns either. I don’t like my 3D projects having the little lines and marks inside. Funny in a strange sort of way I know, I did fill this with um... chocolate cause who doesn’t like getting Chocolate. Ooh look there's more of the Designer Series Paper Tea party. Ok it’s a bit of a phase at the moment.

For the last couple of months I have needed a heap of thank you cards for various people. I make them every month mainly for my lovely stamp club ladies so each month is a new design.

I had made these ones month ago but didn’t use them straight away I ended up making extras of these ones and some very lucky ladies received these with purchases that they made.

These were super cute and a great way for me to use the new punch from Stampin’ Up. Designer Series Paper Tea Party was used for this card. Cute ah.

convention swaps

Hi Stampers

This year Stampin’ Up held their Convention in Sydney, what a great time it was, so many stories. So at convention we do swaps where we create a card/s and swap with other very clever demonstrators for ideas. This year I only made 50 swaps, last year I made 80, but after some tweaking this is what I came up with.

It took me a few goes to settle on this design. Lots of sponging went into each sample and I was really pleased with the final product. I did get some lovely comments from the lovely ladies with whom I swapped with. As it turned out this stamp was very popular as was the colour. It was fun swapping and I was really pleased with the swaps I was given in return.
